Afterschool

General Information

The Orono Parks and Recreation Department Afterschool Program offers a fun and safe alternative to your child going home to an empty house.  The Afterschool Program is open to all afternoon K-5th graders.  The children will be met at the Asa Adams School by the Afterschool Staff where they can use the gymnasium and outdoor facilities for games and other activities.  The Staff will then escort the children to the Keith Anderson Community House where the children can participate in craft activities, play games, or do homework.  Throughout the year, we will be offering different special events, trips and theme days along with our regular activities.  Special events may include sledding and sliding, nature walks, bowling, skating etc.

Pick-up Policy

Children enrolled in the Afterschool Program are required to be picked up by 5:30 pm each night.  Any parent who arrives late will be charged a late fee of $15 for the first half-hour and $15 for every 15 minutes after.  Any future late pickups will result in the child possibly being removed from the program.  If your child is to be picked up by someone other than yourself an I.D. will be necessary.

Kindergarten Information

If your child is entering Kindergarten in the fall and you need Afterschool care, we can help.  Normally the first 2 weeks of school Kindergarten children go half a day.  During the 2 week early release the bus will bring the Kindergarteners to the Afterschool Program where they will be supervised and provided activities.  The fees for the first two weeks differ from normal weeks so please refer to the Afterschool fee section.

Regular School Days                2:45 pm - 5:30 pm
Mini-Day's                               1:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Inservice & Vacation Days        7:30 am - 5:30 pm

The Afterschool Program will operate on snow days in accordance with school cancellations, opening at 8:30 am.  However, if the Orono Municipal Office closes we will close also and the parent will be notified to pick-up their child early.

$50 per Week
$13 per Day-Regular School Day
$15 per Mini-Day
$20 Vacation - Inservice - Snow Day
$60 per Week Kindergarten or $15 per Day

Parents are required to pay for everyday registered for regardless of attendance.  Part-time is considered 3 days or more.
